Member of the Foothills Brass Quintet, and an artist of international repute, Joanna Schulz is in constant demand across North America as a freelance musician, soloist and clinician. After performing as Principal Horn with the Auckland Philharmonic in New Zealand for 2 seasons, and working in Winterhur, Switzerland Ms. Schulz finds herself back in Canada and thriving musically. As former Principal horn of the Vancouver Island Symphony and regular substitute with the Vancouver Symphony and Victoria Symphony Orchestras Joanna is enjoying a very successful freelance career. As a recording artist Joanna has performed for numerous pop and indie albums in both Canada and New Zealand.
Through Foothills Brass Joanna finds her schedule rapidly filling up with dates through May 2011. Tour stops include Frankfurt, Germany, and numerous US locations including: Texas, New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and all across 8 of Canada’s 10 provinces.
Born in Nanaimo, British Columbia, Joanna has studied French Horn at the University of British Columbia, and various European conservatories. Ms. Schulz has been a pupil of Martin Hackleman, Frøydis Ree Wekre, Gail Williams and David Johnson. When not playing French Horn Joanna can be found running or reading great fiction.
