Winner of 2 East Coast music awards with the Jive Kings, Robert ‘Bob’ Nicholson is enjoying a varied and successful career. After having performed 5 years with the world famous musical ‘The Phantom of the Opera’ and continuing to perform with the orchestra for ‘Anne of Green Gables’ in Prince Edward Island (PEI), Bob is in constant demand as a collaborative musician, clinician and soloist. As an orchestral musician Mr. Nicholson has performed with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Canadian Opera Company Orchestra, Calgary Philharmonic, CBC Toronto Jazz Orchestra and the National Ballet Orchestra among others. As a collaborative artist Bob has worked ‘in the pit’ with the Toronto productions of Beauty and the Beast, Showboat, Crazy for You, Miss Saigon and Les Miserables.
When not performing with Foothills Brass, or subbing with various orchestras Bob is planning a new show called ‘Rock Slide’ featuring amplified trombones, tubas, euphoniums and percussion with fellow PEI native and trombonist Dale Sorensen.
A native of Prince Edward Island, Bob studied at the University of PEI, the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, the University of Toronto and at the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara, California. When not performing across North America you can find Bob on the golf course attempting to break 80!
